Trip to Elizabeth City

This past weekend I flew over to Elizabeth City (via Norfolk) to visit my best friend Aaron and his family. Aaron and I lived across the street from each other in KY starting in middle school. We never would have thought almost 20 years later I would be changing his kids diapers. Cassie is 2 1/2. We had lots of fun reading books, watching Spongebob Squarepants and eating cupcakes. Logan is 6 weeks old...he slept, ate and peed alot. Aaron and Wendy really wanted me to have the "baby experience". I changed diapers, clothes and walked the floors when he fussed. I loved every minute of it. Was a little freaked out with putting the arms in the sleeves of his outfits and putting his arms in the car seat. I felt like I was going to break his little arms. Here are some pictures from the trip.....

If you notice Baby Logan (as Cassie calls him) is wearing a UK t-shirt. Do not be fooled, he has on UNC pants! The best of both worlds. At least a compromise between Aaron and Stacie. The last picture is a sad good-bye at the airport. Cassie did not want Aunt Stacie to leave.

As far as our little one, I am feeling pretty good. Eating like crazy. Wendy sent me home with some maternity tops and bath stuff for me! Yea! No more presents for the parents once the little one is announced!

Thank you Wendy and Aaron for having me this past weekend. I enjoyed it very much. I miss everyone already. The kids will be so big the next time I see them!

14 Weeks and Counting.....

Today was a great day for our little peanut. We had our monthly doctor's appointment and all is well. We did get to hear the heartbeat. Let me just tell you how great a sound that is. The heartbeat rate is 160bpm, which is strong and healthy. It is funny, once you hit the second trimester you feel so much better. The down side is you no longer feel pregnant! Hearing the heartbeat helps.

I did have a hormonal morning. Matt, the dog and the cat were snapped at. I was in tears over none of my clothes fitting. Matt thought it was funny until he realized I really was upset. Anyway, after a haircut and maternity top shopping all is well in the world. The heartbeat helped too!

Other great news is that my little brother got a promotion at work this week! He has his own office...with a door. Imagine that! I am very proud of him.

I am leaving in the morning to see my friend Aaron and his family. Aaron and I grew up across the street from each other in KY. He has lived all over the world because of his job. Crazy that he is now in my state of NC. Of course, it would be on the complete other side of the state! Him and his wife Wendy have a new baby boy, almost 2 months old and a 2 year old daughter. I am very excited to see them. I can bone up on my diaper changing skills. I am sure Aaron and Wendy will not complain about that...now Logan is another story.

We have a 2nd level ultrasound on February 18th. There are genetic issues with hips in my family. My aunt and I both were born with our hips out of socket. I had to wear a pillow split the first 8 months of my life. Based on this, the Dr. wants a closer look at the baby. I am not worried....we will get to see a clearer picture of the baby and should get a early read on the sex. I will keep you updated.

Until next time....Stacie

13 Weeks and Counting

Today the little peanut is 13 weeks old. Today my clothes are not cooperating. I think I will concede that the tummy is maybe a little fat (all the bad food I am craving) and more baby. Problem is maternity clothes are too baggy and my clothes are too tight. I did hit the jackpot today....I am in Wilmington working and the store across from my store was going out of business. Everything was 80% off. Now I have pants that fit, at least for a week or so.

According to the baby center website the baby is almost 3 inches long, the size of a medium shrimp and heshe weighs about an ounce. HeShe also has her/his own fingerprints. I do know that I am eating like crazy! Last night at the Olive Garden I ate almost the entire bowl of salad and the whole plate of spaghetti. Tonight was Cracker Barrel, Chicken Fried Chicken, mac & cheese and corn. Like I said, I am eating very badly. I DID have a healthly salad for lunch...we shall not mention the cup of Loaded Potato Soup.

The nicest thing happened to me for breakfast. I was going through the drive thru at Chick Fa La (Will not mention what I ordered) and when I went to pay, the lady told me that the customer in the car that just left had paid for my meal and said "God Bless You". How sweet was that. It was such a yucky day, raining and cold. It put a smile on my face. Now I shall pass it on the next time I go through a drive thru. You should do the same.

Until Next Time....Stacie

A New Way to Keep in Touch

Hello All,
My friend Kristina sent me a copy of her blog. I thought it would be a great way to keep in touch with far away family and friends...or even friends and family not that far away considering how busy everyone is now! It will be neat to add more and more to this as the baby grows and is finally born. We are almost at the 13 week mark. It is going by fast and slow at the same time. Right now I have a bump but who knows if that bump is baby or just eating way to much! My next dr. appt is next week. Not to exciting, just the regular checkup. The fun one (as Matt calls them) is the 25th of Feb. That is when we find out if we are having a boy or a girl. Matt of course wants a boy...even though I tell him that girls love their daddies. We went on our first trip to Babies R Us. Matt was like a kid in a candy store. It is so neat to see him so excited about the baby. It will be much easier to pick things out once we know the sex. Right now it is "Peanut" or himher. I am feeling much better. The nasuea is going away. I still get dizzy if I do not eat enough. Just now getting over a cold. This too shall pass.
Here is a picture of our first sonogram. This is at 7 weeks. The next one should be more fun....legs, arms and such. This is a blob...but it is our blob!
